Bring your own device

North Bundaberg State High School introduced the Bring Your Own Device Program at the beginning of 2016.
If you click the link at the bottom of this page it will take you to the BYOX information page where you will notice a couple of links on the right hand side. The Handbook will give you an overview of our BYOx program, links to free software (including a free student Office 365 download Page 10) and also outlines the options for BYOx, which are outlined below:
Option 1 – Bring Your Own Device. Cost $25 per year for 2017.  This Includes – access to school’s wifi network and assistance with set up. Parents and students will need to sign the BYOx connectivity form and return to the school, with payment. Please note, the wifi network is filtered, which means students will have the same internet restrictions (e.g. certain gaming sites, social media sites etc) that they’ve always had.
Option 2 – Take Home Program. Cost $120 per year. The school has a number of Acer Iconia tablets available to loan for a period of 1 year. Cost includes – Acer tablet, carry case, accidental damage insurance, school licenced software and technical support. Students and parents must carefully read the Take Home Charter, then sign and submit the last page along with payment or a negotiated payment plan. 2017 is the last year that this option will be available.
Equity pool – the school recognises that some families may not be able to afford a device and therefore has a small number of devices available for 12 month loan. If this sounds like you, please contact our school office on 4130 0222 with your details and our Principal will contact you to discuss this.
Emergency hire – Our library will have a number of devices to hire on a daily basis if students accidentally leave their devices at home.
Our teachers at North have been busily creating Virtual Classrooms to store worksheets, assessment and other curriculum documents which students can access via an internet connection 24/7. However, students will still require some books for doing spelling tests, warm ups, maths problems etc. Booklists are available on our website and we are currently investigating online textbooks down the track.
