In 2024 the library will be undergoing a refurbishment with a modern new layout and new shelving.  The library will open late in term 2 and welcome students and staff back to a new and exciting learning space.

In addition to lesson times, the library is open before school from 8.30 am until 8.45 am for printing or other quick tasks. At lunch-time the library is open for 30 minutes. At these times the library is well used for reading, playing board and card games, doing jigsaw puzzles and completing school work. Many students bring their laptops into the library for work and leisure. Other activities, such as card making (eg Easter, Mothers’ Day), and other simple craft activities are offered periodically also.

In order to complement the promotion of literature, and the development of information and thinking skills, other activities and events also take place through the library. These activities may include displays, showcasing of student work, author visits, Book Week celebrations and debating workshops.   The library is the meeting place of several interest groups.

The library boasts a varied collection which includes all areas of non-fiction, reference, and a well loved selection of fiction books along with subscriptions to a wide variety of periodicals and magazines.  An area of the collection that has been built up on the basis of requests is manga and graphic novels.

Teachers enjoy a wide selection of educational resources to support delivery of the curriculum through our Teacher Resource collection. The collection is developing in line with the Australian Curriculum. Many teacher resource items are housed in staffroom satellite collections, for ease of access. ClickView, the video and resource learning management system, is managed through the library.

Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 may borrow 3 fiction and 3 non-fiction books at a time, for a period of 2 weeks. They may also borrow magazines for one night only. Students in Year 10 may borrow 4 fiction and 4 non-fiction books at a time, and one magazine overnight. Year 11’s and 12’s have the same book borrowing arrangements as Year 10’s, but they may borrow 2 magazines at a time, overnight. Extensions are allowed.  We encourage all students to visit the library.
