Bundaberg North SHS is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and we deliver a number of nationally recognised vocational qualifications. VET refers to Vocational Education and Training.
Each vocational subject area is designed for students to work through a number of Units of Competency from national Training Packages that have been developed by different industries to ensure knowledge and skills are developed according to their needs.
The VET Qualifications offered include:
- CUA20720 Certificate II Visual Arts
SIT20322 Certificate II Hospitality * (SIT20322) course is co-delivered with Blueprint Career Development (RTO Number - 30978)
MEM20422 Certificate II Engineering Pathways ** (in partnership with Blue Dog Training)
SIS20122 Certificate II in Sport and Recreation / SIS30321 Certificate III in Fitness

During the two year course, students will be involved in a wide range of activities to provide opportunities to demonstrate their competency in each of the industry related areas - including practical skills and knowledge.
Students who enrol in any of these courses and successfully complete the requirements of all units of competency will be issued with a Certificate qualification. These can contribute up to 4 points towards a student's QCE, in the core category.
Students who successfully complete some units of competency will be issued with a Statement of Attainment. Partial completion of a qualification may provide a prorata contribution toward the QCE (for example - students successfully completing 25% of a Certificate II are eligible for 1 of the 4 points).
These qualifications and/or statements of attainment are recognised by employers in the relevant industry and by other training organisations, such as TAFE, throughout Australia. This means the student can continue their training in these areas after the completion of Year 12.
At the beginning of Year 11, students who have enrolled in a VET subject will receive a VET Student Handbook that outlines important information regarding their participation in these subjects and their obligations and rights.
