As you are aware there have been restrictions and lockdown procedures put in place for persons who are currently in or have visited the Local Government Areas (LGA) following areas:

• City of Brisbane

• City of Gold Coast

• City of Ipswich

• Lockyer Valley Regional Council

• Logan City

• Moreton Bay Region

• Noosa Shire Council

• Redland City

• Scenic Rim Regional Council

• Somerset Regional Council

• Sunshine Coast Regional Council

It is very important that you read the following carefully and follow any directions.

The safety and protection of our students, families, staff and community remains our priority.

Bundaberg North State High School will be open on Monday 2 August and all students are expected to attend school as per normal unless they have been in one of the listed LGAs since 1:00 am, July 31.

All staff members will be undertaking classroom instruction.  If a staff member has been in one of the listed LGAs they will be required to wear a facemask.

Students who have been in one of the listed LGAs since 1.00am July 31 are to:

• stay at home and quarantine until 4pm Sunday 8th August where parental instruction and care can be provided, or

• if parents/carers are essential workers, students may attend school but must wear a facemask

For any person (students, staff and/or volunteers) on site from Monday 2nd August it is imperative for the safety of our community that we follow the directions under the restrictions provided by Queensland Health and the Government.  While most of the restrictions do not affect us, the wearing of facemasks of anyone who has been in one of the LGAs is mandatory.

The wearing of facemasks for all secondary school students is only mandatory for the listed LGAs, and/or persons who have been in those listed LGAs since 31 July.

However, if any member of our school community (students and staff) feels the need to take the extra measure of wearing a face mask to ensure the protection, health and safety of themselves we would be supportive of this action.

As always, if students are feeling unwell they are to stay at home.

If students are showing any symptoms they are to stay at home, get tested and await a negative result before returning to school.

If you have any questions or queries please email principal@bundabergnorthshs.eq.edu.au to contact us.

Please email queries in relation to the above rather than phoning as the school regularly experiences a large volume of calls and we may not get to your call immediately.

It is important that we take every care to look after the health and wellbeing of students at this school, so please ensure you follow the restrictions as outlined. We will continue to have staff and students; use provided hand sanitiser regularly, follow hand washing protocols, maintain where possible 1.5 metres distance from other persons, and continue our  ongoing additional allocation of COVID cleaning measures.

Frequently asked questions

Our school plan for parents and visitors to ensure COVID safety for all includes the following:

  • Keep your distance – maintain physical distancing (1.5m) when at school.  Parents should avoid congregating in groups on the school site, in carparks or around the school.

  • Wear a mask –when you can't socially distance, as per Queensland Health advice it recommended that you wear a face mask. When entering the school, consider having a mask with you, just in case.

  • Good hand hygiene – sounds simple, but washing your hands properly is important. Wash your hands with soap regularly and try not to touch your face. Use hand sanitiser if you can't wash your hands.

  • Stay home when sick – it remains important to get tested and stay home until you receive the results. Isolate yourself at home and protect your family and others.

I thank all school community members, in advance, for your cooperation in keeping our school community safe.  I will keep parents and caregivers informed should any changes to the above be required. Wishing you all a safe, healthy and wonderful year of learning ahead.
